Welsh Government has failed Wales over Trains

Eluned Parrott AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Minister has today attacked the lack of long term strategy of the Welsh Government when it comes to train travel.

Following the news of the decision to cut the second north – south express train service, Eluned Parrott said:

“We have a national transport plan, but nowhere does it mention reducing the government’s much flaunted express services.

“The Welsh Labour Government claims that they have a strategy, but their actions don’t match the aspirations they set out.

“Welsh Labour complains a lot, but in reality they’ve done little to further the case for electrification in Wales beyond Cardiff, they’ve failed to engage with the UK Department for Transport on franchise arrangements for the West Coast Mainline and failed to properly asses the potential for Wales to link it with High Speed 2.”

“Without a joined-up plan of action for our railways, it’s Wales’ passengers who’ll miss out.”
