Eluned Parrott, Liberal Democrat AM for South Wales Central has welcomed the announcement by ASDA in Grangetown that they are to fit trolley locks to every trolley the store has meaning shoppers will need to deposit a £1 coin to use a trolley and return the trolley to the story to get a refund. Most other supermarkets in Cardiff operate a similar system.
Eluned Parrott AM said, “I’m pleased that ASDA have finally seen sense and introduced trolley locks; it is long overdue. For far too long the streets and parks of Grangetown have been littered with abandoned shopping trollies and I hope this will go some way to improve the situation.
“Liberal Democrats in Grangetown have been calling for this for a long time and I’m pleased that ASDA have listened to local people’s concerns.”
